I often tell people I grew up in the middle of a potato field. As the oldest of five kids, I spent my youth in rural, southern Idaho hunting, fishing, camping, and any other outdoor sport/activity I could find.
After high school, I served a two-year church mission in Taiwan, grew to love the culture and people, and learned Mandarin Chinese. After my mission, I went to Boise State University where I received my degree in Electrical Engineering. I went on to work as an Electrical Engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory. It was while working there that I realized I prefer to interact with and help people more than computers. So I changed careers and attended the University of Washington School of Medicine. I ended up falling in love with family medicine during my third-year rotations.
My wife, Carrie, and I have 5 kids, 4 boys and 1 girl, and a Goldendoodle named Chewbacca. We love spending time as a family whether it’s camping, sports, binging sci-fi movies, or playing games. I can’t wait to get to know and introduce my family to the great people of Indiana.
