Martin Wieschhaus
Dr. Martin Wieschhaus is originally from Missouri and made his way to the area for residency training at Saint Joseph Health System in 1986. He received his undergraduate training from the University of Missouri-Columbia in chemical engineering. Between his second and third year of medical education at Columbia, he completed a one-year fellowship in Pathology. Following graduation from residency, Dr. Wieschhaus entered solo private practice for four years in South Bend.
In 1993, Dr. Wieschhaus returned to our program as Associate Director and Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center. The following year he completed a one-year fellowship at the National Institute for Program Director Development in Kansas City, Mo. In 1998, he assumed the directorship of our residency program. During his time as Program Director, he has served at the national level on the Board of Directors for the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD).
Dr. Wieschhaus is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He and his wife Rhonda have six children.
