Rhythmia HDx™ Mapping System

Rhythmia HDx Mapping System

Treating arrhythmia

Arrhythmia is a potentially life-threatening problem with the rate or rhythm of your heartbeat. It means that your heart beats too quickly, too slowly or with an irregular pattern. During an arrhythmia, the heart may not be able to pump enough blood to the body, which can damage the brain, heart and other organs.

Healthcare providers diagnose arrhythmias based on medical and family histories, a physical exam and the results from tests and procedures. One new method available at Saint Joseph Health System, the RHYTHMIA HDx™ Mapping System, gives your provider a more detailed look for more accurate diagnosis.

Greater efficiency and clarity

SJHS is one of the first hospitals in Indiana to use the Rhythmia HDx™ Mapping System that allows providers to more clearly see and understand even the most complex arrhythmias more efficiently. The system uses high-definition cardiac maps and a novel algorithm, and reduces the need for repeat procedures.

Unlike conventional cardiac mapping systems, the Rhythmia HDx Mapping System offers the highest level of mapping efficiency by rapidly and automatically acquiring high volumes of data to generate 3-D maps of any chamber of the heart. The resulting maps are then used to help diagnose, locate and treat the source of rhythm abnormality.

Treatment

Once the arrhythmia is pinpointed, heat to the tissue, or ablation, can be applied, creating scar tissue that ultimately disrupts the irregular heart rhythm.
