Heart Attack Care
Every year, just over 800,000 Americans have a heart attack (medically known as acute myocardial infarctions) making them one of the most common medical conditions. Of those, 200,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack. Most heart attacks are caused by coronary artery disease when the major blood vessels that supply the heart struggle send enough blood and oxygen. Plaque deposits in the arteries are usually the cause.
If you or a member of your family has suffered a heart attack, we’re here to provide the care you need on every step of your journey to recovery. As part of the Saint Joseph Health System Heart Team, we work with patients to make sure you get access to the care you need so you can return to living your life as soon as safely possible.

In recent years, we’ve enacted a system specifically designed to respond to heart attack emergencies. Dubbed “Code STEMI” (for ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction), this protocol ensures a timely response from key personnel.
We are proud to be a technology leader that enables us to detect, respond to and treat heart attacks. Non-invasive ways to assess your risk of heart disease or stroke are offered, including a treadmill stress test, an EKG, a simple blood test or a Coronary CTA.
