Mishawaka Medical Center
Mishawaka’s Called to Care
Being in or visiting the hospital can be an overwhelming experience. Whether a patient or visitor, we want to offer you every comfort and convenience while you are here.
Whether you have an accident and need an emergency room close by, or you are scheduling a procedure weeks in advance, you’ll find a hospital and network of medical offices right here in the heart of St. Joseph County. At Mishawaka Medical Center, our physicians, nurses and staff are called to care, and committed to strengthening the community by providing access to healthcare for all who need it.
Each of the 254 inpatient rooms in our facility are private. Home-like décor and oversized windows let in plenty of natural light, and each room has a full bathroom with shower and flat-screen television. Patients can enjoy their meals ordered via room service. All of our inpatient rooms are set up to be same-handed – which means the orientation of the patient bed, bathroom, sink and other features are the same in every room. Research has shown this increases patient safety by ensuring consistency for our care providers.
Mishawaka Medical Center was designed with a focus on you, and an emphasis on:
- Patient safety
- Provider efficiency
- World-class technology
- A healing atmosphere
- Environmental responsibility

Innovative design
Our hospital is not difficult to navigate. We’ve taken every measure possible to ensure it is easy for patients and visitors to find their way. Valet parking is available at the main hospital entrance and registration is located just inside the front doors. Patients coming to the hospital for outpatient medical services benefit from a streamlined experience, with all of the their services located separate and away from the inpatient side.
Going green
During the building process, SJHS followed the Green Guide for Healthcare, a national self-certification program for healthcare construction. One major focus of these green guidelines was the use of recycled and other environmentally conscious materials for greater sustainability. For example, the bamboo wood you’ll see throughout the building on doors, walls and floors. Our mechanical systems are newer and more efficient and investments in a storm water management system and erosion control plan reduces our costs as well.
Innovative tools
From advanced surgical equipment to medication bar coding, we make significant investment in technology in order to provide the best possible care. All of your medical records are stored electronically to ensure privacy, confidentiality and safety.
