Local family supports parents in grief with gift of Cuddle Cots
October 14, 2024Joy turned to grief in August of 2020 as Patrick and Claire Slebonick’s first child, Sloane Lisbeth Slebonick, was stillborn. They processed the tragedy with the support of SJHS’s caring doctors, nurses and a piece of equipment called a Cuddle Cot. A Cuddle Cot is a portable cooling device designed specifically to give parents like the Slebonicks what they need most, time with their child. They shared that this was invaluable to them in their healing journey.
The Slebonicks, now parents of a two-year-old son Slade and a newborn daughter Tess, recently donated a new Cuddle Cot to Saint Joseph Health System out of gratitude for the compassionate care they received during a very difficult time. A second Cuddle Cot is now being donated through the generosity of their friends and family. Both units will bear a brass plaque inscribed with “In Loving Memory of Sloane Lisbeth Slebonick 8-19-2020.” Sloane’s obituary said it best as it read, “Born on August 19, 2020, already an angel in God’s arms.”
