Cesarean section & VBAC
A cesarean section procedure is performed when a physician believes it is safer than vaginal delivery for the mother, baby or both. Whether a cesarean birth is scheduled ahead or happens unexpectedly, we strive to make it a family centered experience. In most cases, your support person will be with you, to hold your hand and see your baby, as soon as she is born. Most babies are even held skin to skin on their mothers chest while surgery is being completed. You and your partner can count every toe and dimple, without delay. To further enhance the experience, some families may wish to ask their physician about using a clear surgical drape so they can see their baby the moment he is born.

Women who deliver vaginally typically have less postpartum discomfort, shorter hospital stays and describe a feeling of wellness sooner than women recovering from cesarean birth. Each woman’s decision is personal and not everyone is a candidate. Your doctor is your best source of information. Our staff is here to ensure a healthy mother and baby, whether the delivery is vaginal or by cesarean birth.
