Keeping in touch with your loved one during their stay.
Saint Joseph Health System cares for the body, mind and spirit, and is dedicated to helping you and your loved ones keep in touch during their hospitalization to promote safety, healing and emotional support. We encourage you to stay connected using your personal devices such as smartphones, tablets or computers.
You can call your loved one's room or cell phone, text or use one of the video chat applications below. If you need your loved one's room number, call 574.335.5000 (Mishawaka) or 574.948.4000 (Plymouth).
If you need the phone number to your family member’s room, please call Mishawaka Medical Center’s main line at 574.335.5000.
Video chat
FaceTime
- Already installed on your Apple device.
- Launch, then tap + to enter name of your loved one (from your contacts) and select them from the search results.
- Tap Video.

Google Duo
If you don’t already have the app:
- Download from App Store or Google Play.
- Launch, then enter your mobile number.
- Enter access code you receive in a text and follow the steps.
Once installed:
- Enter name of your loved one (from your contacts) and tap Video Call. You must both have Google Duo installed. Also usable from a computer.

Facebook Messenger
If you don’t already have the app (you will need the app in addition to Facebook):
- Download from App Store or Google Play.
Once installed:
- Select your loved one from the list or by searching.
- Tap the video camera icon in the upper right. You can also send texts. You must both have Messenger installed. Also usable from a computer.

Zoom
If you don’t already have the app:
- Download from App Store or Google Play.
- Launch, then sign up at the bottom left of the screen by following the steps.
- Activate your account using the email you receive.
Once installed:
- Enter name of your loved one (from your contacts) and tap Video Call. You must both have Zoom installed. Also usable from a computer.

If your loved one does not have a mobile device, SJHS will provide your loved one with a tablet. Our staff is always ready to assist your loved one when necessary. Please let your loved one’s nurse know if you need any assistance.
