Our Doctors

What is a Sports Medicine Physician?

Sports medicine is for the young and old and more importantly sports medicine physicians take care of MORE than just athletes!

Sports medicine physicians are uniquely trained to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal & athletic related conditions. Sports medicine physicians treat both athletes and non-athletes alike. They take the time to understand underlying causes to come up with a personalized treatment plan to optimize outcomes. While most musculoskeletal injuries do not require surgery, if surgical intervention is warranted these physicians work closely with orthopedic surgeon colleagues to seamlessly transition care. In addition, sports medicine physicians routinely collaborate with athletic trainers and physical therapists as well as other allied health professionals to provide a holistic approach to your care.

At SJHS our physicians remain on the forefront of new non-operative techniques to treat a variety of these conditions. When necessary, our physicians are trained to perform procedures including but not limited to: diagnostic & therapeutic ultrasound, platelet rich plasma, percutaneous needle tenotomy, hydrodissection, custom orthotic fitting, compartment pressure testing, & other diagnostic and therapeutic injections.
