Saint Joseph Physician Network expands access to care with new surgery practice
Saint Joseph Physician Network is pleased to announce the opening of Saint Joseph Physician Network Surgical Services, giving South Bend and Mishawaka residents greater access to surgical care.
Dr. Matthew Folstein, Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) medical director of robotic surgery, and Dr. Eric Knapp are now seeing patients at the Medical Office Building connected to Mishawaka Medical Center, 601 E. Douglas Road. Nurse practitioner Sarah Irene McKay provides services at University Park Family Medicine, 17321 S.R. 23, South Bend. To schedule an appointment, patients should call 574-335-6850.

Folstein earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, and completed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Knapp earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and completed his residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital, Columbus. He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. Both have practiced in the community and have been on the medical staff at SJHS. McKay received her medical education at Saint Mary’s College and Indiana University.
Surgeons at the practice perform a variety of procedures, including general, robotic and bariatric surgery. Nurse practitioner McKay offers medical weight management.
