Why does Saint Joseph Health System (SJHS) support RN certification?
Certification demonstrates the registered nurse’s (RN) expertise, knowledge and commitment to the nursing profession, patients and community. Acquiring certification indicates that you have specialty knowledge and have kept up with the ongoing changes in healthcare through targeted education. Certification shows accountability for continued competency. Certification contributes to quality patient outcomes and nursing professional development.
The value of certification is beyond just an individual nurse. Certification contributes to better patient care. It is an indicator to patients that nurses are qualified and experienced, and have met rigorous requirements to achieve this level of success. SJHS understands and supports that certification is a mark of excellence and exemplifies continued diligence in maintaining professional expertise.
In support of lifelong learning and professional development, SJHS provides reimbursement for certification exams. Specific nursing departments provide certification review courses and initial payment of certification exams.
