State-of-the-art cancer care in Michiana is comprehensive, multidisciplinary and most importantly, accessible to our patients, at the Saint Joseph Cancer Institute.
Oncology Unit
SJRMC's inpatient Oncology Unit on the sixth floor of SJRMC Mishawaka is specially designed to create a soothing environment for patients battling cancer.
We use a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care. The team of experts includes:
- Nurses
- Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Oncologists and Physicians who specialize in cancer treatment
- Case Manager
- Chaplain
- Dietician
- Oncology Pharmacist
- Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapists
Our nurses attend an Oncology Nursing Society chemotherapy/biotherapy provider course in order to administer these medications to our patients. This course is nationally recognized and provides a comprehensive overview of the knowledge needed to administer chemotherapy/biotherapy agents.
This Unit also includes a large Hospice Room to accommodate patients with special needs or a longer length of stay.
Our goal is to provide excellent care effectively manage cancer, its treatments and its side effects to allow the patient the highest quality of life.
Outpatient Treatment & Infusion Center
Patients receiving treatment can do so conveniently at one of our Outpatient Treatment & Infusion Centers.
Services provided include, but are not limited to, blood/blood product transfusions, IV medication administration, dressing changes, catheterizations, injections, IV fluids for hydration and chemotherapy administration.
Appointments can be made by your physician's office directly calling an Infusion Center.
